Clegane interview

Answered by KooTôh, guitarist.

Hi Clegane! How have you been?

Hi ! We are great thanks. Rudy (our dummer) had a health problem with his wrist for the past three months but everthing is ok now, we are back on track!

Can you talk to us more about your latest stuff?

Well, the latest is the split with our good friends from Father Merrin. It was a great adventure we started around a mundane discussion, when suddenly, after months we decided to make it happen.

We produced it at distance and it took us almost a year, but we are very proud of the result!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this album? Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

All the inspiration goes to Laurent, he is the one always coming up with amazingly weird ideas! If he is always showing us what he writes, he stays mysterious about where it comes from.

I’m guessing he absorbs his everyday life experiance and sifts it threw another dimensional filter!

Any plans to release a new video for some track?

Yeah, lots of things are coming up! Video is one of those. We’ve been thinking of it for a while, we have some ideas but we are still figuring whom to work with. It’s definitely gonna be this year!

How was the recording and writing process?

We had those two songs ready since a while, so we were happy to put them out straight.

It was processed before since we are always writing new stuff.

It means we have a lot waiting to be heard and even more, we leave in the junk.

What was it like to work with Sleeping Church records / Almost Famous and how did that relationship develop?

AlFa is our root label so we’ve always had a great relationship, freedom to be the first of it.

SCR we discovered with the split and I must say the impressed me by their professionalism. They care a lot and want to do good by the bands. Exchanging was very natural and they did a great job handling most of the work.

How much each musician influence the album?

Well, we all have our part in different ways. I’d say it’s equal. Laurent is the lyrics/bass part, with his own grungey style.

Rudy sits down the drums, always searching for heavy patterns.

I come up with the riffs and we work out together the alchemy.

Nothing that mysterious.

Any plans to hit the road?

Sure ! We’ll be on tour this fall from november 15th to novembre 23rd, across France and maybe Swizerland.

What else is happening next in Clegane’s world?

Well, we are composing on a full length album that we will be recording this winter. We want to have a good vinyl, heavy songs and amazing artwork, so we are taking a bit more of time, since we know we are impetuous!

Thanks for the interest and long live MM!
