Myrholt interview

  1. Hi Ole! How have you been?

Hi there! All good here. Kinda busy actually. There’s been quite some interest in Myrholt since the release of ”Med Samme Naal, Under Samme Maane”.

  1. Can you talk to us more about your latest stuff?

Well, it’s a continuation of the stuff I released as Tremor some years ago. I was kinda fed up with that whole thing. I have been writing and recording simmilar sounding material continuosly since 1992 but lost interest in that world of pseudonyms and shite. Then in late 2016 we did a festival with my death metal band Those Left Behind and I was asked to step in behind the drumkit for the Norwegian Black Metal band Mork. This reignited the flame and when I returned home I wrote Ved Yggdrasils Tredje Rot, Merkur and Inn I Den Blaa Flammen. Then I started this monthly release flow finally ending the year with ”Med Samme Naal, Under Samme Maane”. The fire still burns.

  1. Did any event in particular inspire you to write this album (Med Samme Naal, Under Samme Maane)Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

I find inspiration in life and in nature. I live in the outskirts of the city, surrounded by astonishing views. The fjord, the woods and the mountains are all within a 3 minute walk and I can behold it all from my house. So inspiration is there wherever I turn. The lyrics also describe the strive to be self-sufficient in both mind and material. By this I simply mean do as much homegrowing as possible and think for yourself. Question authority and rebel against organized religion.

The title describes when my fiancee and I got inked with the same needle. Beneath the same moon. I find family important. The rune I use in the Myrholt logo reflects that.

  1. Any plans to release a new video for some track?

No plans as of now. But there might be a video eventually.

  1. How was the recording and writing process?

It came naturaly. Mostly starting with some riffs and then it just builds itself.

  1. What was it like to work without label?

Wonderful actually. I’ve become rather eccentric when it comes to writing and releasing music. I find myself needing to do everything myself. So from the riffs to the release. It’s all me.

  1. How much each musician influence the album?

It’s a one man band. So naturally it’s purely my visions coming to life.

  1. Any plans to hit the road?

No plans. I’m not that found of the stress involved with gigs. Can be fun from time to time but in small amounts. And with the right people. Mork was decent. Great guys. Kudos to them!

  1. What else is happening next in MYRHOLTs world?

I’ll be relasing a couple of EP’s early 2018 and I have started working on the next album. Also there will be physical releases of ”Holands Himmelrand” and ”Med Samme Naal, Under Samme Maane”.
