ONYDIA interview

Hi ONYDIA! How are you doing these days?

Hello everybody! We are doing great and we’re working on our album. We’re full of ideas and we hope to make you listen to some new stuff very soon.

How would you classify your music? Do you agree with the reviewers who trying to describe your musical genre?

Our genre is a melodic prog metal which can turn, sometimes to djent and with the peculiarity of a female voice. We think the reviewers have cleary understood our style and their description are quiet right.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

For sure Disperse, Haken, Animals as leaders, Dream Theater and… The Spice Girls for the choirs… just joking XD  I meant Katatonia or Opeth…

What do you want fans to take from your music, just a moods, maybe some ideas an so on?

Negative experiences can make us grow and turn us in more confident individuals if we live them in the right way. We want to send a message of hope and positivity.

Tell us about your latest release?

We are very satisfied for “A new safe path”. We had real fun during the composition and the recording of the track. Even working on the video was fun and left us many new ideas for the following tracks. We are very happy for the greeting received by our latest song, we feel the public is really appreciating our positivity sonority.

What do you love and hate about the music business?

We hate the common opinion that marks metal as an underground genre. There are leads of metal fans whose musical taste is not kept in the proper consideration. What we love about the music business is that it’s in never-ending transformation. This leaves us the hope that thing will change.

What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?

The Genesis’s concert in Rome in 2007. There are two things I love during our gigs: the first one is the headbanging ahahah! And the secondi s the public. People who don’t know each other and who will probably never meet again are bound and connected by the music… that’s just amazing!

How have you evolved as an artist or band over the last year?

This project is brand new for us, so during the last year we tried to better define our sonority. With “A new safe path” we have reached a more modern and new sound than in the past, even comparing it with our first track, “Dyaphany”.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, get drunk with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

Meet Rag’n’Bone Man

Play a gig with Freddie Mercury

Co-write a song with Michael Jackson

Have dinner with Aretha Franklin

Get drunk with Stevie Wonder

What is next for you?

In the short term, we are working on the release of our album and on the filming of a video for our next record which will be out next May.
